We decided to create a fighting game based on two characters from street fighter, Alex & Hugo. There are three levels, each increasing in difficulty. The character on the left is controlled by the user and has the controls to Move, Roll, Jump, Kick, Punch, Swipe and Chop. The character on the right is a programmed AI that can Retreat, Run, Perform multiple combo attacks, Single attacks and some Special attacks. Like most 'Beat em up' / fighting games you must fight and defeat the computer (AI) within the time limit. The game also includes moving animated backgrounds, constant smooth animations, dual health bars, full menu system with instructions, timer, particle effects, additional in-game user options such as Mute, Pause, Restart current game, Return to main menu & quit.
Common Question - How did you manage the character animations?
We first obtained seperate Images of each character, formed spritesheets for each 'move' & looped over the spritesheets with a 2D vector combined with game logic.
